How The Chapter Works

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, BAHFH builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families, who invest their own labor – “sweat equity” – into building their Habitat house and houses for others.  Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and are financed with affordable, no-interest loans.  The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build our next house.  We have built seven houses to date, with work on house number eight in progress.
