How To Help

Volunteers from the community provide not only hands-on assistance in building houses but also serve in administrative and organizational roles on the Habitat Board and on its various committees.  We always need new volunteers in every phase of Habitat’s operations.

Help Us Build House No. 8

We are now beginning to work on our eighth house. This home, the frame of which is from a 1940s house donated to us by Entergy Vermont Yankee, will be reconstructed in our factory in the old Book Press building this summer and fall. It will then be moved to a site on Quarry Road in Dummerston that the Nature Conservancy is donating to us. It will incorporate the technology necessary to make it a Net Zero Energy Home. Preliminary plans include solar thermal heating and solar photovoltaic electric production. We are excited about this home, because it will make us a model for other Habitat chapters and businesses all over the country.

We can’t build this home without your help. We need to raise $60,000 to make this home a reality. We are also seeking volunteers to help out with various aspects of home construction.
